Calling Channels Explained
The amount of calling channels (or trunks) you have, defines how many calls you can make or receive at one time. Think of them as phone lines.
Hero Internet provides a complementary calling channel on every account and an additional channel for each phone number added. These channels are shared across the entire account.
Example: 5 phone numbers = 6 calling channels in total.
Free extensions do not add to the channel count. If required, additional channels can be purchased for $2 each.
Free Trial Explained
Hero Internet offers a free 30 day trial of our voice services.
The trial includes one New Zealand phone number and 60 minutes of calling to New Zealand landline and mobiles.
All Cloud PBX features and AI Voice features are also included.
No credit card is required. At the end of the trial, your service will be automatically converted to a "Cloud Line" plan costing $4 + GST ($4.60 incl) per month.
You may choose any local New Zealand phone number you like. When your trial concludes, you can choose to keep the phone number or to port a number that your already own to the Hero network.
To take advantage of the free trial, sign up and choose the "Free Trial Plan" when prompted.
Please Note: Free trials are not available for Broadband connections, toll-free numbers or Microsoft Teams Calling.

VoIP Plan Pricing Terms
- All prices are in NZ Dollars, exclude GST and are charged in one minute blocks.
- Free trial includes one NZ local phone number and 60 minutes of calling to New Zealand landlines or mobiles. For more details, click here.
- Destinations included in bundled minutes are subject to change.
- Bundled minutes do not rollover to the next monthly bill cycle.
- Incoming calls are free of charge, with the exception of incoming calls to Toll Free numbers (0800, 1800, etc)
- Hero Internet to Hero Internet (On-net) calls are also free
Number Porting
- Porting of your current phone number can be requested within our web portal - more details here.
- Number porting is charged at $10 (11.50 incl GST) per number for local and national NZ numbers.
- Toll free number ports are charged at $20 ($23 incl GST) per number.
Call Recording Information
Call Recordings are available free with any Microsoft Teams Calling plan.
Recordings can be stored for up to 7 years and include Basic AI Voice features like Call Transcription and Sentiment analysis
Teams Lite Terms
- All prices are in NZ Dollars, exclude GST and are charged in one minute blocks
- Bundled minutes do not rollover to the next monthly bill cycle
- Destinations included in bundled minutes are subject to change.

Teams Unlimited Terms
- All prices are in NZ Dollars, exclude GST and are charged in one minute blocks
- Destinations included in unlimited minutes are subject to change.
- Unlimited minutes exclude special numbers (directory assistance) and premium numbers (e.g. 0900)
- Reasonable usage policy applies for Unlimited calling lines
- Unlimited calling bundles are for standard 'person to person' calling
- Unlimited calling is not to be used for outbound call centres, automatic dialers, continuous call forwarding or any other activity we consider to be unreasonable use
- Calling bundles specifically for call centres are available. Please contact us for further details
- Free trials are not available for Hero Teams Calling.
Number Porting
- Porting of your current phone number can be requested within our web portal - more details here.
- Number porting is charged at $10 (11.50 incl GST) per number for local and national NZ numbers.
- Toll free number ports are charged at $20 ($23 incl GST) per number.
Wholesale Setup Cost Explained
- Setup of your wholesale web portal is free when using your own billing system
- Cost of setup for Hero Internet's billing system is $250 + GST (one off cost)
IP Addresses Explained
All Hero Internet Fibre, Fixed Wireless and xDSL connections come with a free public IPv4 address, meaning that no Network Address Translation (NAT) is used on the connection.
Static IP addresses are also available at an additional cost of $5 per month ($5.75 incl GST).

Business Broadband Terms
- All prices are in NZ Dollars and exclude GST
- Free trial is not available with Hero Broadband connections
- A one-off installation admin fee of $50 +GST ($57.50 inc GST) will also apply for new Fibre connections.
- Additional $10+ GST per month tail extension costs apply for fibre connections not supplied by Chorus or not in the Tuatahi (UFF) Waikato region.
- 300M speeds only available on Chorus, Tuatahi (UFF) and Enable at this stage. Northpower and Unison connections operate at 100/20 and 100/100 speeds.
- The lowest speed plan for a business premises is 300M/300M. Additional installation fees may apply for business connections.
Residential Broadband Terms
- All prices are in NZ Dollars and exclude GST
- Free trial is not available with Hero Broadband connections
- A one-off installation admin fee of $50 +GST ($57.50 inc GST) will also apply for new Fibre connections.

Modem requirements for Hero Fixed Wireless 4G
Hero Internet can provide a Huawei B818 Modem at a one-off cost of $299 ($343.85 incl GST).
Customers may supply their own router however it must be a compatible 4G router (Huawei B818 or TP-Link Deco X58)
